DRAGTIVISM
DragTivism is a place where Trans and Queer youth between the ages of 16-20 can navigate and learn about the art, history and power of Drag. We focus on intentional, intergenerational, radical forms of drag artistry as tools for self empowerment and mentorship.
Throughout the course of three days we exchange skills, pass down wisdom and bond with Queer and Trans artist through the art of DRAG. Participants will have access to workshops, discussion and panels led by drag mentors which touch on the different aspects utilized to create performances where Drag and activism intersect. This year’s artists in residency will have DragLab hours to get one on one time with a pre selected mentor. DragLab is the space where mentor/youth partnerships focus to develop demonstrative performance via makeup tutorials, garment construction, concept development, sound editing, using the stage as a platform and more. We will end our conference with a celebration where youth participants will have the opportunity to showcase their art form, if they so choose to.
